Place of origin: Gandhara Janapada (Northwestern part of ancient India)

It took about long time for the silver piece, a narrow horizontal strip, to acquire circular form, ever after a coin's regular dimension and form. However, these circular pieces were also punched with the same six pronged mark and are known as Punch-marked coins. This is thus the second version of Punch-marked coins.
