Academic
structure of the National Museum Institute is limited to three
Departments, which are interlinked and intersparsed yet having separate
entity. The interlinkage of the Department are maintained through
the offices of Dean headed by a Professor for a period of three
years. The following are the teaching Departments started from the
beginning:-
(1) History of Art,
(2) Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art and
(3) Museology.
All the Collection/Departments of the National Museum including
the Photography, Modelling and Display are the Adjunct Faculty of
the Institute. The Institute being an integral part of the National
Museum, the technical and professional personnels of the National
Museum are closely associated for practicals, assignments and demonstrations.
As a matter of fact the National Museum is like a 'Hospital' to
the Institute in the same analogy of a post-graduate Medical College
and its affiliation to regular hospital. This arrangement is very
unique in India that is why it may be called as a 'Museum University'.
